Location
11 Quay Walls is just 45mins to an hour by car from both Edinburgh and Newcastle. (See location map at the foot of our Contact Us page.)
Our location has superb views of Berwick’s famous historical bridges.
The circuit around the Elizabethan walls is one of the finest in the country, taking in the views of the river, river mouth and beyond. The military barracks and bastions contain a lot of history going back to the twelfth century. Along the walls you can pick up the trail of L. S. Lowry the artist, who was interested in the way the Elizabethan Walls encircle the town. Other areas worth visiting include Holy Island, Bamburgh Castle, St Abbs Marine Reserve, Ford and Etal Estates, and the beautiful Northumbrian coastline -- ideal for walkers, and also contains organised cycle routes.
